Instagram hides ‘likes’ in a new feature rollout

Instagram has been working on a new and very unique change for a long time now. The platform had
been debating about removing the number of likes from a photo or video uploaded on it. This means that
the users can’t see the number of likes on their photos. This feature seeks to eliminate the problem of
“numbers” which makes the social media platform a sort of competition.

The company is testing this feature in a few markets and so far, the reactions have been mixed. However,
we believe that it might be a step in the right direction as social media continues to have a great impact on
the mental health of its users.
