What will happen to your social accounts when you die?
It is very Interesting question that what will happen to our social profiles when we are not in this world. What will be the approach of social networks when we do not log on to our accounts for a prolonged period of time? Recently, Twitter has announced that it will start deleting accounts which were not active for a period of 6 months, whereas other Social Networks including Facebook, Google+ or Linkedin have decided not to follow the same.
Other interesting fact is that when your social account is deactivated or deleted, your data might be accessible only for Law enforcement in case of any legal investigation. Till now Facebook has spent almost 22 billion in this process. Many Social Networks need Death certification or proof of death but at the same time Facebook’s approach is different as it will change lost loved one profile into a memorable page which will only be accessible by friends of that person. It is to be noted that Facebook doesn’t delete profiles on its own unless and until someone connected to the deceased approaches Facebook and updates the same.
